A chance encounter with ICIPE in 2018 introduced Timothy Okumu to Bracharia grass that has tripled his cows’ yield from producing three litres of milk a day to now 10 litres a day per cow.Bracharia grass matures in two-and-a-half months and is more resistant to diseases than other varieties, such as napier grass. The grass grows up to 1.5 metres in height, has dark green blades, and produces seeds unlike Napier grass. He sells a kilo of bracharia seeds at Sh5000 and Sh10 for splits.Timothy can be reached on +254(0) 703 163 908.
